One of the most common questions our brides ask us.. ‘Is it essential to have engagement photos done?’ A lot of times we feel as if our clients overlook this important time before their wedding day. We want to educate you on 5 great tips why you should have engagement pictures done.
Spending time getting to know your photographer… This is a perfect time to interact and learn more about your photographer. You will get an idea of how your photographer will work before the big day. This also gives your groom sometime to get comfortable with your photographer. A lot of times the guys are the more not into the whole picture thing. Almost after every engagement session we have done our groom has come back and said thank you! Now I feel more confident and comfortable with getting my picture taken. At the end of the day we want our clients to feel comfortable around us!
Having something memorable before the big day. A lot of our bride and grooms use the images for save the dates. One of the other new things that they are doing is making a sign in book. From the traditional page by page book we are now creating an album that their guests can sign and write a sweet memorable message to the bride and groom. Or even a little bit of marital advice they feel fit. I like to read those as I have now been married for 11 years. They always give me a good laugh.
Practice makes perfect… Going back to number 1 of feeling comfortable. We often get brides and grooms that aren’t as intimate in public as some. Which is perfectly fine. This gives them a moment to get comfortable in front of our camera. Feeling shy is a complete normal reaction that we see more than often. We want to pose you and teach you dipping techniques so that the day of the wedding you are pro’s in the dipping game. We want to help with hand placement etc. while taking these images.
Looking back on this day. I have been married for 11 years and between the day we took our engagement photos to today. (after having kids and living that day to day busy life) Its always a breath of fresh air to look at us as babies I like to call us These are the days before our hectic busy lives together. These are the very first years. We want to show our kids these images and tell our stories so that we can laugh and maybe cry at some. Memories are very important. And having them captured is even more important.
A day to feel pretty. This is a perfect day to get all done up go out, have your laughs make fun of each other and just act goofy together. Just you and him. This also gives you a time to make some dinner reservations after. Maybe have a drink and unwind!
Whatever you choose to do just make sure you have fun doing it. Get creative. Spend this time with your fiancé so that when you do look back years from now you guys have something fun to talk about.
